GREAT BRITAIN. VERY BRITISH.
England - the country of high tea, the Queen and Harry Potter. The schools in England are of high quality and you will be able to learn a lot. The people are not as strict as you may have heard and you will get accustomed to their lifestyle easily. Come and see for yourself! Additionally, the Britons have their own style of humour, which has taken the world by storm. The country's many inventions and excellent school education are world famous.
The school system in England is different to the system in Europe or America. The school year is divided into three terms:
- Term 1: September - mid-December
- Term 2: January - mid-March/April
- Term 3: April - July
One term consists of eleven to sixteen weeks. The advantage is thata three-months high school stay abroad as well as half a school year fits well into your school career. You will either get into Fifth or Sixth-Form according to your age. Until the age of 15 a school uniform is worn at all schools. After the age of 15 the students need to stick to a dress code.
Sprachcaffe maintains close contact with the school districts to help you with any issues that may arise. In addition, a member of the International Office will be there to support you as well.

The subject selection matches the curriculum of most High Schools and includes classes in history or literature. Those subjects belong to the General Studies in England and therefore are compulsory subjects. Beyond that you can take part in subjects that are more like university classes when you visit the Sixth-Form.
On offer are classes like Psychology, Economics or Design. Sometimes Physical Education is also a compulsory subject. Most of the schools offer very well equipped sports facilities. In the Sixth-Form you specialise in four to six subjects according to your interests and skills. Classes are from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm each day. Afterwards you can participate in extracurricular activities like Choir, Theatre, Sports or the schools’ newspaper.
